Mayo Posts 13 Saves, Eagles Win Fourth Straight with 3-1 Victory at PPU

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Asbury University men's soccer team continued their winning ways on Tuesday afternoon with a big 3-1 victory at rival Point Park in River States Conference play.

The Eagles win their fourth consecutive game and improve to 6-1-1 on the year. Additionally, AU moves to 5-1-1 in RSC play and jumps PPU in the league standings into third place.

In its past four contests, the Eagles have outscored their opponents 21-3.

Highlights
*Point Park scored the first goal of the contest in the 31st minute of action off a cross from the left side.
*Owen Sigey returned the favor with his fifth goal of the year in the 39th minute to even up the game at 1-1. Micah Schneider provided the assist on the goal.
*In the second half, the Eagles took the lead after Sam Henderson scored off a header from a free kick from Bryan Ortiz in the 50th minute.
*Fionn McCartan scored the third unanswered goal off a pass from Dao Tran into the box for a 3-1 edge and two-goal lead with 20 minutes left.
*PPU fired off several shots in the final 15 minutes of the game, but the Eagles' defense held steady to preserve the victory.

Key Stats
*Goalkeeper Ethan Mayo had a huge game with 13 total saves, which marks the most saves in a single game since the 2016 season. The Eagles finished with 15 total saves on the day with two team saves additionally.
*PPU outshout AU 26-11, but Asbury placed 10 of its 11 shots on goal in the win.
*Sam Henderson posted three shots on goal while Owen Sigey tallied two shots on goal. Sigey leads the AU offense with five goals and Henderson posted his third goal of the year.
*Dao Tran and Bryan Ortiz each collected their first assists on the year.
