Eagles Cruise Past Oakland City 4-0

WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University women's soccer produced its seventh shutout of the year on Thursday evening, as the Eagles rolled past Oakland City 4-0 at home.

AU improves to 7-4-1 on the year and picks up another River States Conference win to move to 6-2-1 in league play.

Highlights
*The Eagles wasted little time gathering all the momentum early as they controlled the game on both sides of the ball.
*Caroline Absher scored the first goal of the game in the 18th minute for a 1-0 AU lead.
*AU outshot Oakland City 10-3 in the first half and led 1-0 at the break.
*The Eagles dominated the second half of play and got things started quickly as Elizabeth Sparks pushed AU ahead 2-0 off a great ball in the 50th minute.
*Sparks added another goal 12 minutes later to extend the Eagles' lead up to 3-0.
*Jordan Holt scored the final goal of the game on a header off a corner kick. Lisa Nesselroade provided the assist on the goal scored.

*In total, the Eagles out-shot Oakland City 21-4 throughout the contest. Additionally, Asbury fired off 14 shots that landed on goal.
*Elizabeth Sparks recorded her second multi-goal game this year and leads the Eagles' offense with nine goals.
*Sparks has scored at least one goal in the past five games.
* Caroline Absher tallied her eighth goal scored on the year, while Jordan Holt posted her fourth goal.
*Jamie Steele finished with two saves and collected her seventh shutout as goalkeeper this season.

Next Up
The Eagles will return to action next semester as they continue their season in pursuit of another River States Conference Championship. The conference announced last week that the tournament  has officially been moved to April.
