Women's Hoops Falls to Point Park

WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University women's basketball team fell 99-72 to Point Park on Thursday evening inside the Luce Center. Thursday's contest was labeled "Community Night" – presented by Kentucky Bank.

It was a tough night for the Eagles, who fell behind early and were unable to slow down PPU's offense who nearly recorded 100 points on the night.  Additionally, Asbury was also undermanned on the night with multiple players out of the lineup due to illness. 

Inside the Matchup
AU falls to 16-8 on the year and drops to 4-6 in league play.
Point Park improves to 14-9 on the year and jumps to 4-5 in RSC action.
 
Highlights
AU fell down into an early 19-5 hole in the opening stages of the first period.
An 18-6 run in the second quarter reduced the gap down to just six at 29-23.
PPU connected on eight three-point field goals in the first half, and took a 44-32 lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, Asbury relied on the three-ball to pace their offense. However, PPU continued to score inside and from beyond the arc. The Pioneers outscored AU 36-18.  
PPU extended their lead out to 73-48 after hitting their 13th three of the night late in the third.
The Pioneers led by 30 after three quarters, leading 80-50.

Key Stats
PPU finished with 17 made threes and scored 30 points inside the paint.
AU was led in scoring by Kelsey Johnson, who tabbed 20 points.
Jaclynn Ruble tallied 15 points and a team-high five assists.
Autumn Herriford posted 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Zaria Napier finished in double figures scoring with 10 points. Meagan Bellamy chipped in with six points.
The Eagles shot 33 percent from the field and scored 14 points off turnovers.

Asbury returns to action on Saturday at home against Carlow at 1 PM.
