Big Second Half Carries Eagles Past Point Park, 78-67

WILMORE, Ky. -- Asbury squared off against Point Park in the Luce Center on Thursday night looking to end their conference woes. The Eagles won their second conference game of the season with the 78-67 victory over Pioneers.

Inside the Matchup 
Asbury improves to 8-15 on the year and moves to 2-8 in RSC action. 
Point Park drops to 12-11, (4-5, RSC). 
AU collects its fifth home victory of the year. 

Highlights
* 
Point Park started off strong, going on an 8-0 early in the first half. Despite the early deficit, Asbury kept it close for most of the first half, but trailed 33-29 at the break.
 
*The Eagles came out much stronger at halftime and tied the score shortly after halftime with a big effort on both ends of the floor. Asbury took a 53-50 lead with eleven minutes remaining in the game.

*An 11-4 run extended AU's lead out to seven at 59-52 moments later.

*Eric Powell had another strong shooting performance from behind the three-point line, shooting 4-5. 

*Taking advantage of turnovers and better shot selection, . They never lost the lead after that, defeating the Pioneers 78-67.

Key Stats 
 *Jamiel Goliday led the Eagles in scoring with 17 points, going six for nine on the day. Eric Powell wasn't far behind him with 16 points.
 * Leander Ridgeway, Siah Holifield, and Desmond Duke scored 10 points each.
 * Drew Delatte led the team in rebounds with 10 and with seven points.
 *Caleb Bonny finished the night with six points, and TJ Robinson finished with two.
 * The team leader in assists was Blaine May, who had four.
* Asbury shot 41 percent from the field and produced 14 second-chance points. 
* The Eagles also finished with 25 points scored off the bench and 18 points inside the paint. 

Next Up 
 With the win on Thursday, the Eagles improved to 8-15. They are returning to the Luce Center on Saturday at 3 PM to take on Carlow University. Saturday's contest will feature the Ray Shouse Memorial Game.
