AU Hits 17 Threes in 87-51 Win over Welch

WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University women's basketball team rolled past Welch College on Tuesday evening with an 87-51 victory at the Luce Center.

Asbury made the most of their final non-conference game of the season, as they connected on 17 three-point field goals, marking the 16th time this season that AU has made at least 10 threes in a single-game.

Asbury snaps a two-game losing skid and improves to 16-7 on the year.

The Eagles were also victorious over Welch in their first meeting in Galatian, Tenn. 83-47.

Additionally, AU moves to 8-2 in home games this year.

Key Stats
*Asbury shot 17-52 from three-point range as four Eagles finished in double figures scoring.
*Autumn Herriford led AU with 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
*Meagan Bellamy scored a season-high 12 points on 4-8 shooting from behind the arc.
*Kelsey Johnson and Cheyenne Fullwood both tabbed 11 points apiece.
*Zaria Napier finished with eight points and nine rebounds.
*All 11 Eagles who saw action finished in the scoring column.
*Asbury scored 23 points off turnovers and collected 14 steals.

*Asbury never trailed on Tuesday and after a slow start, finished the first period on a 9-3 run to build a 19-10 advantage.
*The Eagles imposed their will in the second frame as they out-scored the Flames 23-8 to extend their lead at 42-18 heading into halftime.
*Asbury went to their bench who played significant minutes in the second half, as the group compiled a total of 43 points, which marks a season-high in bench points in the 2019-20 season.
*AU knocked down seven threes in the fourth period, shooting 7-14 from long range.
