Women's Hoops Upended at (RV) WVU Tech

BECKLEY, W.Va- The Asbury University women's basketball team dropped a 104-74 decision on Saturday afternoon at first-place West Virginia Tech on Saturday afternoon in River States Conference play.

Five Asbury players finished the game in double figures scoring.

Inside the Matchup
Asbury falls to 15-7 (4-5, RSC) on the year, as the Eagles drop their second consecutive contest.
WVU Tech remains perfect in league play at 10-0 and improves to 17-6 overall.

Highlights
*West Virginia Tech began the contest with a strong first quarter, shooting  45 percent from the floor to take a 29-17 lead.
*A 15-5 run to end the quarter extended the lead out to double-digits.
*Asbury started the second frame on a hot start, cutting the deficit down to just one at 33-32, capping off a 15-4 run.
*The Golden Bears didn't let up offensively in the second period and held a 57-39 lead at halftime, ending the quarter on a 17-5 run.
*Asbury was unable to get their offense rolling in the third frame and were out-scored in the period again by a 24-14 margin, increasing the lead out to 81-53 for WVU Tech.

*Sarah King led Asbury in the scoring column with 15 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
