WILMORE, Ky. -- The Asbury University men's soccer team fell 3-1 to Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday evening at home in non-conference play.
Asbury slips to 1-3 on the year and have now lost three consecutive games.
Mount Vernon Nazarene out-shot AU 23-5 throughout the contest, but only placed seven shots on-goal.
After a scoreless first half of play, the Cougars took the lead with a goal in the 49
th minute. However, Asbury would respond in the 59
th minute with a goal from
Noah Welch to even the score.
The goal from the senior marked his first of the 2019 season.
Mount Vernon Nazarene tacked on two more goals in the 61
st and 74
th minutes of action to put the game away for good with a 3-1 advantage.
Trey Miller logged four saves at goalie.
Asbury is back in play next week on the road. The Eagles will travel to St. Louis to face Lindenwood on Thursday, September 12. The match is set for a 5 PM start.
