Box Score 2 NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Asbury University volleyball team won two matches on Friday at the Music City Invitational in Nashville. The Eagles swept Fisk 3-0 and defeated Lindenwood-Belleville in four sets to close out the day.
Asbury improves to 2-2 on the season and the Eagles will conclude the Invitational with two matches tomorrow at 11 AM and 3 PM CST. The Eagles will take on University of Northwestern Ohio first, followed by a matchup with Campbellsville to conclude the tournament.
In the first match on Friday, AU started off slow in the first set but after a quick timeout, rebounded strong and finished off the first set with a 25-23 advantage.
AU played better in the second half as they continued to attack the net as they put away the second set ahead 25-19. The Eagles sealed the deal in the third set with a 25-20 victory to pickup their first victory of the 2019 season.
Against Lindenwood-Belleville, AU came out strong with an impressive 25-18 first-set victory. However, a tough second set and sloppy play put the match even at one set to one after the Lynxx won the second set 25-16.
The Eagles came back from an early deficit in the third and won an very entertaining third-set with a 29-27 decision.
AU built up a large lead down the stretch in the fourth set and then held off LB for a 25-20 fourth set victory to clinch the match.
