NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- The Asbury University volleyball team had a tough matchup on Saturday afternoon as they lost in three sets at IU Southeast in River States Conference action. IU Southeast won the first set 25-13, the second set 25-16, and took the final set 25-11.
The Eagles begin RSC play with an 0-2 record after falling in four sets at Brescia on Friday in Owensboro.
In Saturday's contest, the Grenadiers controlled the match from start to finish as they tallied a .295 hitting percentage and posted 45 kills up at the net.
Asbury had a tough time getting things going as they recorded only 15 kills on Saturday and collected a -.019 hitting percentage.
Unforced errors were also costly for AU as they committed 17 throughout the match. The Eagles trailed in all three sets and were unable to hold a lead at any point in the afternoon.
Senior
Lizzy Rempel led the Eagles up front with 8 kills and
Taegan Montgomery notched 10 assists.
Jessie Sandefur added a team-high 19 digs, while
Kandace Eligio and
Mari-Grace Alexander both had six digs apiece.
The Eagles will return to action and will look to bounce back at home on Tuesday against Cincinnati Christian at 7 PM.
