RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- The Asbury University men's soccer team dropped its second straight River States Conference match with a 3-0 loss at No. 7 Rio Grande on Saturday evening.
The Eagles move to 2-8, (0-2 RSC) on the year.
The Red Storm scored all three goals on Saturday in the opening half. Rio Grande scored in the 22
nd minute to put them ahead 1-0 on a goal scored from nine yards out.
In the 39
th minute, the Red Storm extended their lead out to 2-0. Just before halftime, in the 43
rd minute, URG added another score on a tapped in loose ball straight in front of the goal.
Rio Grande led 3-0 at halftime and the score would stay the same as the second half was scoreless from both sides.
Asbury completed the match posting eight shots on the night. The No. 7 Red Storm totaled 14 shots and held the edge in corner kicks 7-5.
Neil Lumm,
Isaac Amaya, and
Noah Welch all placed two shot attempts for the Eagles' offense.
Seth Good recorded seven saves in the loss.
The Eagles will return to the pitch on Thursday evening in Wilmore against Carlow. The match is tabbed for a 7 PM start.
