PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – The Asbury University men's soccer team came up short on Wednesday at Shawnee State in non-conference action. AU was unable to find the back of the net in the match and fell by a score of 5-0.
Asbury drops to 2-5 on the season with the defeat.
Shawnee State scored its first goal of the match in the 34
th minute of play off of a corner kick. The Bears added one more goal in the first half as they scored with just 23 seconds remaining to take a 2-0 lead into the locker room.
Things continued to not go well for AU as Shawnee State would score three times in the second period. The Bears first scored off a rebound in the 49
th minute to extend their lead out to 3-0. The last two goals of the contest came in the 68
th and 78
th minutes.
AU had several opportunities to score on the night as they posted 14 shots. Senior
Noah Welch led the Asbury offense with five shots.

Isaac Amaya each recorded two shots apiece.
Asbury will look to bounce back at home on Saturday against Georgetown College. The match is slated for a 2 PM start.
