DANVILLE, Ky. – The Asbury University women's soccer team had another tough matchup on Tuesday evening as the Eagles took on NCAA DIII opponent No. 8 Centre College in Danville. The Eagles fell by a score of 4-0.
The Eagles were out-shot 29-1 in the contest, but kept the match scoreless for most of the first half. With just under 12 minutes left in the half, Centre scored their first goal on a shot from inside the box for the 1-0 lead.
The Colonels led 1-0 at halftime.
CC would add three goals in the second half. The first goal of the second half came within the first three minutes off of a header.
Centre would take a 3-0 lead with another goal in the 68
th minute off a shot that was initially blocked but then tapped in.
The final goal of the match was scored in the 65
th minute.
Asbury's lone shot of the match came from
Paige Miller, who's shot landed on-goal but was saved by the Centre keeper.
Jamie Downey tabbed eight saves at goalkeeper for AU.
The Eagles will return to action on Friday at home against No. 24 University of the Cumberlands. Friday's match will be Senior Night, with the game beginning at 7 PM.
