INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Asbury University women's soccer team fell on the road at No. 20 Marian 4-0 on Saturday evening in non-conference play. It was a tall order for the Eagles, who faced their third straight opponent currently ranked inside the Top 25 in the nation.

The No. 20 Knights have yet to give up a goal all season and AU was unable to find the back of the net on Saturday night. Asbury drops to 1-4 on the year with the loss.

The Eagles had a tough time getting things going on the offensive front as they were limited to only four shots in the match.

After the first 20 minutes of play, the match was scoreless, and the Eagles' defense had held off seven shots already from Marian.

However, in the 23
rd minute, Marian broke through with a goal on a header to take a 1-0 advantage.

The Knights would add another score five minutes later to push their lead up to two. Marian would score again with under five minutes left in the half off a penalty kick.

MU led 3-0 at the break.

The Knights would score their only goal of the second half in the 57
th minute of action for a 4-0 lead.

AU had a couple of good looks off of a corner kick moments later, but shots from
Elizabeth Sparks and
Paige Miller landed high and wide right.

In the final 30 minutes, the Eagles would fight off seven more shot opportunities from Marian to keep the score at 4-0.

Jamie Downey got the start at keeper and played all 90 minutes of the contest. The junior recorded 11 saves.

Paige Miller led the Eagles with two shots, while
Elizabeth Sparks and
Cam Davis also tacked on a shot each.

Asbury will return to action on Tuesday at NCAA DIII opponent Centre College in Danville. The match is set to begin at 5:30 PM.
