Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Edged 1-0 by No. 22 Trinity Christian

WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University women's soccer team suffered its second loss of the season on Saturday, as they were edged 1-0 by No. 22 Trinity Christian College.

Asbury drops to 1-2 on the year and will have a week off as they will return to action on September 10th at Cumberland University.

The Eagles played the No. 22 Trolls tough all afternoon and their defense kept the match scoreless through the first 45 minutes of play.

AU's offensive chances were limited in the first half as the Eagles were held to only one shot. However, the lone opportunity was a good look by Sarah Rocco, but just missed over the top of the crossbar.

Trinity Christian tallied 11 shots throughout the first period and were in control of the pace of play, but the Eagles kept them in check with a scoreless half.

In the second half, Trinity Christian would finally break through. With 34 minutes remaining in regulation, TTC would score on a long chip shot from several yards out that just snuck in under the crossbar for a goal and a 1-0 lead.

Asbury had a great look a few minutes later, but Cam Davis' shot would be saved by the Trinity Christian keeper.

The Eagles continued to fight off the Trolls' offense who looked to add more to their lead but were unsuccessful.

AU made a late offensive push to try and force overtime, but Ashley Miller's shot with one-minute remaining would be once again saved by the TTC goalie.

Carley Pyles posted five saves in the loss.
