PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Asbury University volleyball team dropped a four-set match at Point Park University on Saturday afternoon in Pittsburgh in River States Conference play.

The Eagles battled hard all afternoon against the top team from the RSC East Division, but were upended (25-21, 22-25, 25-22, 25-20). Asbury moves to 11-13 overall on the year and 7-6 in RSC league play.

As a team, AU recorded 45 kills, 14 blocks, and 91 digs altogether. The Pioneers placed 53 kills and finished the match with a .239 hitting percentage.

Point Park jumped out to a quick 10-3 lead early on in the opening set, but the Eagles were able to bounce back to make it a competitive set down the stretch but PPU prevailed for a 1-0 edge.

The Eagles returned the favor with great play in the second set as they evened up the match at 1-1 with a 25-22 set victory.

Asbury connected on 12 kills each in both the third and fourth sets, but PPU  had a big set up front at the net in the third with 18 kills and also added 12 kills in the final set.

Feshman Hailey Jordan led AU in kills with nine and assists with 16.

Shelby Larson logged a season-high eight kills.

Charis Wieschhaus and Kandace Eligio posted season-highs of 17 and 15 digs respectively.
