PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Asbury University volleyball team made quick of River States Conference opponent Carlow University on Friday evening with a 3-0 sweep in Pittsburgh.
The Eagles won the match 25-12, 25-13, 25-9 to improve to 11-12 on the season and 7-5 in River States Conference action.
Friday's win marks the seventh sweep victory for Asbury on the year.
The Celtics, playing down three starters due to injury, finished Friday's contest with 15 kills and a .079 hitting percentage.
AU posted 19 service aces in the victory and posted 24 kills as well. The Eagles also finished with a solid .284 hitting percentage.
Hailey Jordan recorded eight service aces,
Kandace Eligio added six, and
Jessie Sandefur finished with four aces.
Jordan also led the team in assists with nine, while also collecting eight kills and six digs.
Sandefur tallied a team-high 17 digs as AU accumulated 48 throughout the contest.
Taegan Montgomery notched six digs and six assists in the victory.
Lizzy Rempel posted nine kills to lead the way up front at the net, while
Julia Thompson had four kills. Rempel totaled a .364 hitting percentage for the match and committed only one attacking error.
The Eagles will remain in Pittsburgh and will face Point Park tomorrow at noon.
