WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University women's soccer team used a huge offensive boost in the second half to defeat Midway University 3-2 on Thursday evening at home in River States Conference play.
AU improves to 5-9-1 on the year with the win and also jumps to 4-2-1 in RSC action.
In the first half, Midway scored first in the 21
st minute to take a 1-0 advantage. Despite several quality looks from AU, MU took their 1-0 lead into the half.
Asbury continued to fire away offensively in the second half and got things started quickly.
Elizabeth Sparks scored to tied up the match in the 46
th minute on her second goal of the season.
Susie Terrazas provided the assist on the score.
However, Midway would take a 2-1 lead back in the 53
rd minute on a goal scored.
AU answered again as Sparks notched her second goal of the contest in the 56
th minute. Once again, Terrazas tallied another assist on the score.
Cam Davis would score the game-winning goal for AU in the 86
th minute on an excellent shot that landed over the keeper's head.
Asbury's defense would hold off Midway in the final minutes from being able to tie up the contest and send it into overtime.
Asbury posted a season-high 27 shots throughout the match on Thursday. Sparks and
Delaney Long both collected six shots to lead the Eagles' offense.
Ashley Miller and and Terrazas each tabbed four shot attempts.
The Eagles return to play at Cincinnati Christian on Thursday, October 24.
