WILMORE, Ky. --- The Asbury women's soccer team (5-3-1, 1-1 CCS) battled back from a two-goal deficit and twice pulled within a goal in the second half, but Covenant College (3-3-2, 2-0-1 CCS) held on for a 3-2 victory.
Asbury welcomed Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Commissioner Beth Vansant to midfield pregame. Commissioner Vansant presented the 2025-26 CCS Women's Commissioner's Cup to AU Athletic Director Ben Andrews.
Covenant controlled much of the first half, outshooting the Eagles 8-2 and taking advantage of a penalty kick opportunity in the 30th minute, to give the Scots a 1-0 lead.
After heading to halftime trailing 2-0, the Eagles generated seven shots over the final 45 minutes and finally broke through in the 76th minute when Bria Stiff found the back of the net off a feed from Maggie Perry, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
The Scots answered just over 10 minutes later to restore Covenant's two-goal cushion. The Eagles refused to go away, however, as Molly Spalding scored less than two minutes later to make it a one-goal match once again.
The Eagles finished with nine shots and four shots on goal. Stiff and Spalding each scored for Asbury, while Perry recorded an assist. Covenant held an 11-9 advantage in shots and placed four attempts on frame.
