Eagles Take Both in LaGrange; Men and Women Sweep 7-0

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS

LAGRANGE, Ga. --- The Asbury men's (4-4, 2-0 CCS) and women's (4-3, 2-0 CCS) tennis teams delivered dominant performances on Saturday afternoon, as both squads swept LaGrange College, 7–0 scores.

The Eagles controlled the matches from the start, winning every doubles point and claiming 11 of the 12 singles matches in straight sets.

MEN'S NOTES

Asbury set the tone early in doubles play, sweeping all three courts to secure the opening point. At No. 1 doubles, Franco Patino and Ignacio Ardiles earned a convincing 6–1 victory over the Panthers.

The No. 2 pair of Alejo Britos and Andres Caceres followed with a 6–2 win, while Ben Moore and Paolo Cargnelutti completed the doubles sweep with a 6–1 victory at No. 3.

The Eagles carried that momentum into singles play, winning five matches in straight sets. Ben Moore controlled the top singles spot with a 6–0, 6–3 victory.

At No. 2 singles, Franco Patino earned a dominant 6–0, 6–1 win, while Ignacio Ardiles followed with a 6–2, 6–2 victory at No. 3.

Andres Caceres delivered one of the most decisive wins of the day at No. 5 singles, shutting out his opponent 6–0, 6–0. Jose Ignacio Murillo added another straight-set win at No. 6 with a 6–0, 6–3 result.

At No. 4 singles, Alejo Britos battled in the most competitive match of the afternoon before falling in a three-set contest.

WOMEN'S NOTES

The Asbury women also opened the match by sweeping doubles play. At No. 1 doubles, Alexandra Garcia and Katherine Nova earned a strong 6–1 victory.

The No. 2 pairing of Isabella Sanchez and Ariadna Zegarra followed with a 6–2 win, while Cara Clark and Maryalice McVey closed doubles with a 6–0 victory at the No. 3 spot.

In singles play, the Eagles were nearly flawless, claiming all six courts in straight sets.

At No. 1 singles, Katherine Nova delivered a dominant 6–0, 6–1 win. Ariadna Zegarra followed with a 6–1, 6–2 victory at No. 2.

Alexandra Garcia posted a shutout win at No. 3 singles, defeating her opponent 6–0, 6–0. Isabella Sanchez also recorded a perfect result at No. 4 with a 6–0, 6–0 victory.

Maryalice McVey continued the momentum with another 6–0, 6–0 win at No. 5, while Cara Clark closed the sweep with a 6–2, 6–0 victory at No. 6.
