Moffat Powers Eagles Offense to Conference Sweep Over Wesleyan; Potter Earns Seventh Win

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS

WILMORE, Ky. --- Junior equine assisted services major Abigail Moffat powered the Asbury softball team (12-10, 2-2 CCS) to a Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) doubleheader sweep over Wesleyan College (4-22, 0-8 CCS), 9-2 and 13-0.

Game One | ASBURY 9, WESLEYAN 2

Asbury used a massive fifth inning to turn the tide and secure a 9-2 win in the opener.

Wesleyan struck first with a run in the opening inning and added another in the fifth to take a 2-0 lead. The Eagles were held scoreless through the first four frames before erupting for six runs in the bottom of the fifth to take control of the game.

The inning was highlighted by Abigail Moffat, who delivered a huge swing with a three-run homerun as part of a two-hit, six-RBI performance. Moira Tinsley also contributed in the frame and finished the game 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.

Asbury added three more runs in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

In the circle, Abi Thompson got the start, allowing two runs over 4.1 innings while striking out three. Danielle Spiegel earned the win in relief, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

The Eagles totaled 10 hits in the game, with Elyanna Rogers adding a 2-for-3 performance with an RBI and two runs scored.

Game Two | ASBURY 13, WESLEYAN 0

Asbury carried that momentum, using early offense and a dominant pitching performance to complete the sweep with a 13-0 victory.

The Eagles wasted no time getting on the board, scoring two runs in the first inning before breaking the game open with four runs in the second. A seven-run fourth inning put the finishing touches on the run-rule win.

Moffat once again sparked the offense, reaching base four times and scoring three runs. Emily Zink delivered a key hit, driving in three runs, while Moira Tinsley added two RBIs.

Tori Giurgevich chipped in with a 2-for-3 effort and two RBIs, and the Eagles showed patience at the plate, drawing nine walks in the game.

In the circle, Josie Potter was dominant, tossing a complete-game shutout. She allowed just five hits over five innings while striking out three to earn her seventh win of the season.
