WILMORE, Ky. --- The Asbury softball team (10-6, 0-2 CCS) split a doubleheader with Spalding University (6-11, 0-0 SLIAC), using a five-run surge over the final two innings to claim a 6-5 walk-off victory in game one before falling 10-1 in game two.

Game One | ASBURY 6, SPALDING 5

Spalding struck first, scoring two runs in the opening inning and adding three more in the second to take a 5-1 lead. AU got on the board in the first but was held in check through the middle innings.

The momentum shifted in the sixth when the Eagles plated two runs to cut the deficit to 5-3. In the seventh, Asbury completed the comeback with three runs, capitalizing on baserunners and clutch at-bats to walk it off.

Samantha Bottom led the offensive charge, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Emma Popplewell added two hits and scored twice, while Moira Tinsley drove in a run as part of a two-hit performance. Emily Zink also recorded two hits in the win.

Josie Potter earned the complete-game victory in the circle, allowing five runs on seven hits while striking out three.

Game Two | SPALDING 10, ASBURY 1

Spalding responded in game two with a strong offensive showing.

A six-run second inning gave Spalding a commanding lead, and the visitors added four more runs in the fifth to extend the margin to 10-1.

Asbury's offense was limited to just two hits in the contest, with Daegan Flamm scoring the Eagles' lone run. Emma Popplewell accounted for the other hit.

Sidney Hansen allowing six runs in 1.2 innings. Abi Thompson provided relief, pitching 3.1 innings and surrendering four runs.
