Eagles Drop Midweek Doubleheader on Road at Berry

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS

Berry, Ga. --- The Asbury softball team (9-3, 0-0 CCS) traveled to Berry College (15-3, 0-0 SAA)  to take on the Vikings in a midweek doubleheader, ultimately falling twice 11-6 and 1-0.

Game One | BERRY 11, ASBURY 6

After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Eagles responded with a five-run fourth inning to take a 5-1 lead. The rally was sparked by timely hitting and patience at the plate, with RBIs from Moira Tinsley, Daegan Flamm, Emma Popplewell, and Tori Giurgevich.

Berry answered immediately in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs to even the game at 6-6. The Vikings carried that momentum into the later innings, adding three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to secure the 11-6 win.

Flamm led Asbury offensively, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Tinsley added a hit and RBI, while Popplewell and Giurgevich each drove in two runs.

Danielle Spiegel started in the circle, allowing six runs over 3.2 innings, while Abi Thompson pitched 2.1 innings in relief.

Game Two | BERRY 1, ASBURY 0

Game two featured a dominant pitching performance from both sides, but Berry plated the only run of the game in the fifth inning to complete the sweep.

Sidney Hansen was strong in the circle for AU, tossing a complete game while allowing just one run on five hits without issuing a walk.

The Eagles were limited offensively, managing just three hits from Kaylee Korros, Emily Zink, and Daegan Flamm. Asbury threatened sparingly and struck out nine times against Berry's JJ Sweat, who earned the complete-game shutout.

Berry broke the scoreless tie in the fifth inning, using a leadoff double followed by an RBI single to bring home what proved to be the game-winning run.
