Nova and Ardiles Earn CCS Player of the Week
ATLANTA, Ga. --- On Tuesday afternoon, the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) announced its weekly awards, highlighting sophomore Katherine Nova and senior Ignacio Ardiles as the CCS Player of the wek.
Nova, a Lexington, Ky., native, turned in a flawless at the top of Asbury's lineup, posting a perfect record in both singles and doubles play to help lead the Eagles to conference victories over Huntingdon and LaGrange. Competing at the No. 1 singles position, Nova earned a pair of dominant straight-set victories, defeating Huntingdon's top player 6–0, 6–0 before following with a 6–0, 6–1 win against LaGrange.
Nova also contributed in doubles action, teaming with Alexandra Garcia at the No. 1 spot to secure matching 6–1 victories against both opponents.
Ardiles, a Buenos Aires, Argentina., native, delivered a perfect week in singles competition, going 3–0 at the No. 3 position to help lead Asbury to a pair of conference victories. He opened the week with a hard-fought three-set win over Centre, rallying for a 6–4, 4–6, 10–4 victory.
Ardiles followed with straight-set wins against LaGrange (6–2, 6–2) and Huntingdon (6–1, 6–2) as the Eagles secured their first two CCS wins of the season. He also contributed in doubles play, teaming with Franco Patino for a 6–1 victory at the No. 1 spot against LaGrange.
