  • What does serving, training, and competing for the glory of God mean to you?

When I think of what it means to serve, train, and compete for the glory of God, what I picture is the image of being the hands and feet of Jesus. In the gift of athletics that God has blessed us with, whether it be to opponents, teammates, coaches, professors, we have the blessed ability to glorify Him in every action we take and just thank Him for it all. Wins, losses, good days and bad, His name is lifted up.

  • Who are some of the coaches, faculty and staff that have impacted you at AU?

Coach Welch has served as a huge encouragement in my growth and development both as an athlete and as a person. While pushing me to grow into my role on the field, he has shown me what authentic leadership truly looks like. Both he and Coach Steve, another incredible model of such, remind me each day how to put the person before the player. Dr. Elise Kearns has also served as a wonderful mentor in my academics and my future profession.

  • How has God impacted your walk with Him during your time at Asbury?

During my time here at Asbury, I have witnessed God’s goodness in a multitude of ways that go beyond myself! He has shown me over the past three years what unending love really looks like. Regardless of circumstance and like the sheep in Luke 15, there is no where we could wander to be too far from the love and care of our shepherd. Each day I spend here, I feel overwhelmed by the blessing of the friendships I have made over these past few years and I wouldn’t be who I am today without those that I made here!

  • What advice would you give to new student-athletes coming to Asbury?

I would encourage incoming student athletes to be present in the moment, even on the days when it’s hard to show up to practice, or classes are getting heavy. Don’t look too far ahead or worry about what’s to come next, but recognize how far you’ve come. Lastly, embrace the community your sport provides you, and don’t forget to have fun!!

Perry has been instrumental to our success on the field during her time here. Even more important, is her off field presence. Her intentionality, kind heartedness, and strong faith have allowed her to influence our program in a positive way. I am pleased to see Perry being recognized by Kessinger Lee and thankful for her continual contributions to our program on and off the field.
