ADA, Ohio. --- The Asbury men's tennis (2-1, 0-0 CCS) and women's tennis teams (2-2, 0-0 CCS) both took fell on the road 5-2 to Ohio Northern University on Saturday afternoon in Ada, Ohio.


The Polar Bears claimed the doubles point by sweeping all three positions to take an early 1-0 lead heading into singles play.

Asbury found success at two spots in singles action. At No. 1 singles, Ben Moore delivered an impressive three-set victory, rebounding after a tight second set to secure the point in a deciding super tiebreak. Andres Caceres followed with a strong performance at No. 5 singles, earning a straight-set win to account for the Eagles' other point of the match.

Several other singles matches were tightly contested. At No. 2 and No. 3, both matches went the distance to a third-set super tiebreak, with Franco Patino and Ignacio Ardiles pushing their opponents deep before coming up short. Competitive efforts also came from Alejo Britos and Paolo Cargnelutti as the Eagles continued to battle throughout the lineup.


The Eagles opened the match by securing a win at No. 1 doubles, as Katherine Nova and Ariadna Zegarra earned a strong 6-3 victory. Ohio Northern responded with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to take a narrow edge heading into singles play.

In singles, Asbury continued to compete across the lineup. At No. 1 singles, Katherine Nova pushed the match to a deciding super tiebreak after splitting the first two sets before closing out for the intense win in a close finish.

Ariadna Zegarra delivered a key win at No. 2 singles, rallying after dropping the opening set to claim a hard-fought three-set victory.

Malory Watkins forced a second-set tiebreak at No. 4 singles, but ultimately fell 6-4, 7-5.
