Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Asbury Surrenders Home Loss to Maryville; 71-57

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS

WILMORE, Ky. — Asbury men's basketball (3-13, 1-3 CCS) competed at home Tuesday night against Maryville College (12-4, 3-0 CCS), but the Scots' strong first half proved to be the difference as Maryville earned a 71-57 victory inside the Luce Center.CFA Night

The game was sponsored by Chick-Fil-A, a proud corporate sponsor of Asbury Athletics, and the official quick service restaurant of TeamAU.

The Eagles stayed within reach early, but Maryville slowly created separation in the opening half, building a 39-27 lead at the break. The Scots used balanced scoring and efficient perimeter shooting to control the tempo, then maintained their advantage in the second half to hold off any late Asbury momentum.

Junior business administration major Jordan Lewis led the Eagles offensively with a team-high 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field. Lewis added three rebounds and a steal in the effort.

Junior finance major Cam Jones also turned in a solid performance, finishing with 12 points on an efficient 4-of-6 shooting night and added two rebounds

Jonathan Combs added five points and four rebounds in 29 minutes, while Scott Shepherd pulled down five rebounds to go along with four points. Isaiah Stephan contributed seven points in just eight minutes, and Konlin Brown chipped in five points for AU.

Maryville was led by Matthew Schneider, who scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds. Jamal Ware followed with 12 points, while Jackson Garner added 10 points. Chase Morgan nearly posted a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.
