WILMORE, Ky.--- The Asbury Women's Soccer team (0-0-1, 0-0 CCS) battled NCAA DIII opponent Johnson University (0-0-1, 0-0 AAC) to a 0-0 draw in the 2025 season opener on Friday night in Wilmore, Ky.
Asbury's defense stood firm, highlighted by junior exercise science major
Maggie Perry, who played all 90 minutes on the back line. Junior goalkeeper
Sheridan Harrison recorded five saves to secure the clean sheet and hold Johnson off the board.
On the offensive side, Asbury recorded seven shots, including four on goal, while Johnson tallied eight shots with five on target. Junior captain
Anna Sparks led the Eagles with two shots on goal, followed by
Macy Scott and
Eva De Souza each put a ball on target as well.
Asbury earned four corners on the night compared to Johnson's one corner kick. Each team committed a total of four fouls on the evening with no yellow cards.
The shutout from Asbury's defense tallies 10 total shutouts over the past two seasons, with the Eagles holding their opponents off the board nine times in the 2024 campaign.
