MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- No. 5 seed Asbury softball (22-14, 9-7 CCS) fought hard scoring four runs in the fifth inning, but slipped to No. 3 seeded Maryville (22-19, 10-6 CCS) 7-4 in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Tournament to end their 2025 season.
Freshman
Danielle Oldfield led the offensive charge for AU with three hits on the evening.
Emily Zink and
Daegan Flamm combined for three RBI to help aid Oldfield's efforts. In the circle
Josie Deatherage got the start, followed up by
Amanda Harmon, and
Kaylee Strunk finishing at 3.1 IP allowing zero ER.
Final Score | MARYVILLE 7, ASBURY 4
The Scots got out to an early lead, in the second inning Maryville put up a four spot for a 4-0 lead.
Maryville added on to their advantage in the fourth inning with three runs off three RBI base hits to extend the score to 7-0.
The fifth inning showed an Asbury fight, the Eagles scoring four runs on three hits cut the Scots lead down to 7-4.
Emily Zink and
Daegan Flamm each recorded RBI hits to pull the lead to three.
However, Maryville College held on for the 7-4 victory, shutting out Asbury over the next two innings to advance to day three of the CCS Tournament.
Kaylee Strunk finished in the circle for AU going 3.1 innings and allowing zero earned runs to give the Eagles a chance.
AU ends their historic 2025 season, breaking into several season record leaderboards:
- 22 Wins - most since 2010 (third most in program history)
- 21 Team Homeruns - tied for most all-time (2009, 2011, 2014)
- .319 Team Batting Average - third best in program history
- 185 Team RBI's - third most in program history
- 6-Game Win streak - tied-third longest in program history
- Abigail Moffat - 39 runs scored (third most in a season in program history)
- Abigail Moffat - 23 stolen bases for a career (third most in program history)
- Moira Tinsley - 37 RBI (fourth most in a season in program history)

The Eagles end their 2025 season at 22-14 and 9-7 in the CCS after a historic first season a part of the conference.
