Asbury Slips to Muskingum, 81-60, in Game Two of Wittenberg Classic

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
SPRINGFIELD, Oh. --- Asbury women's basketball (3-7, 1-0 CCS) slipped on the road to Muskingum University (5-5, 0-3 OAC), 81-60, in the final game of the Wittenberg Classic on Friday afternoon.

The opening period belonged to Muskingum, as the Fighting Muskies jumped out to an early advantage with efficient shooting and strong defensive pressure. Junior Emily Sizemore briefly tied the contest during the quarter, but Muskingum responded with a decisive run to close the frame, taking a 21–8 lead after one.

AU began to find some rhythm in the second period, improved ball movement and defensive effort helped the Eagles outscore Muskingum 22–19 in the quarter, trimming the deficit to 40–30 heading into halftime.

The Muskies then took control in the third period, with their aggressive play extending the lead to 69-47 by the end. Despite AU's efforts in the paint, Muskingum secured a decisive 81-60 victory.

Muskingum shot 47.6 percent from the field (30-of-63) and held a 38–32 edge on the glass. AU forced 21 turnovers and recorded 11 steals, converting those miscues into 15 points, but struggled from beyond the arc, finishing 4-of-25 from three-point range.

Sizemore led AU with 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Camryn Poole added 11 points, and West contributed seven points and a team-high eight rebounds.
STORY - QUOTE
"Today was not our best performance for sure. I told the team to throw it away and let's move on. I didn't have them prepared to play, obviously, so today was on me and we will come back after break and get ready for conference play."
