WILMORE, Ky.--- The Asbury men's basketball team (5-14, 1-5 CCS) was clipped by No. 4 in the National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCAA), Ohio Christian University (19-3) on Wednesday night's Annual Ray Shouse Memorial Game in the Luce Center, 72-55.
OCU scored 36 points in each half, AU put up 28 and 27 points in the two halves in that order. The Trail Blazers shot 42% from the field and made 13 threes, while Asbury shot 29% from the field and made two threes (their lowest total this season).
The Eagles committed 14 turnovers that led to 19 OCU points off turnovers, and OCU reached 12 giveaways that ended in 10 Asbury points. AU outscored OCU in the paint 34-24 and won the rebound battle 40-35 rebounds.
Graduate forward
Clayton Winter led AU with 11 points and eight rebounds with 5-6 shooting on the night. Sophomore
Scott Shepherd went 4-8 for nine points and grabbed two rebounds alongside
Cayden Lancaster collecting seven rebounds.
Aden Slone dished three assists for AU with five rebounds while
Jonathan Combs scored eight points and grabbed six boards. OCU guard Parker Penrod went 4-10 from three for 16 total points.
The Eagles went 15-16 from the free throw line for their highest FT percentage in a game this year at 94% at the line. OCU used 22 points off the bench to power their offense.
Asbury finished the first half on a
Cam Jones steal and dunk from
Luke Imfeld at the buzzer, cutting the deficit to 36-28. OCU went 14-30 from the field in the second half to secure the win.

Asbury will travel to Lookout Mountain, Ga., for their next matchup on Tuesdsay night against Covenant College in a road CCS matchup.
