Eagles Slip to Hanover and Adrian; AU Combines for 19 Hits and an Ison Homer


STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky.--- Asbury softball (6-9) continued their competition in the Transy Pioneer Classic on Sunday afternoon, for a double-header against Hanover and Adrian. Despite producing double-digit hits on the day, the Eagles would ultimately fall to late-game pushes by both opponents, losing 3-4 to Anderson and 9-10 to Adrian. 

Asbury produced at the plate on Sunday, out-hitting Hanover 7-5. Despite out-hitting the Ravens, AU's runs were scored from a walk and opponent errors. Emily Zink and Samantha Bottom helped lead AU in game one, each recording two hits a piece.

In game two against Adrian, the Eagles found themselves down by nine with three innings to go. AU had an explosive fifth inning, scoring nine runs to tie the game. Taylor Enlow began the fifth-inning drive for AU, with a single to bring home Samantha Bottom. Natalie Ison hit her third bomb of the year, scoring three more runs, right after Enlow. 

Asbury went on to score nine runs in the fifth off of nine hits. 

The Eagles combined for 19 hits through the two games, resulting in 13 runs scored by AU.

STORY - TOP PERFORMERS
* Samantha Bottom went 4-7 on the day, scoring two runs in game two
* Emily Zink grabbed three hits on the day with two RBIs and a run scored
* Natalie Isons only hit of the day was a 3 RBI home-run in game two
* Taylor Enlow 4-8 on the day with two runs, two RBIs, and two doubles

* Abigail Moffat collected two hits on the day with a 2 RBI double in game two

* Hanover took an early lead, getting up by two in the second
* The Eagles rebounded with two of their own in the second and scored their third in the next inning to give them their only lead of the day
* All of AU's runs were scored from walks and errors
* Emily Zink and Samantha Bottom led the hits for AU, with each grabbing two

Game Two | ASBURY 9,  ADRIAN 10
* The Eagles were held scoreless for five innings, with Adrian taking a 9-0 lead early in the game
* AU had one of their most explosive retaliations of the season, scoring nine in the fifth to tie things up
* Asbury put up nine hits and nine runs in the fifth
* After Taylor Enlow's single to begin AU's drive, Natalie Ison hit her third home run of the year, giving AU three more to add to the board
* AU and AC remained tied at nine for the next inning until Adrian walked off with a single in the bottom of the seventh to win
