DANVILLE, Ky.--- Despite seven hits and four runs in the first four innings, Asbury baseball (0-1) slipped on opening day of the 2024 season to Centre College (4-0) in Danville, Ky., on Tuesday night, 4-9. In a hit-fest that saw 20 hits combined, Asbury contributed nine but was not able to score after the fifth inning.
"We came out really hot and had really good fight. For our first matchup this year, it was a good game on both sides. We are going to be a good baseball team.

* M. Lynch went 3-4 for Centre with two home runs
* Eli Wilder got the start for AU and went two innings with two earn runs, two walks and a strikeout
* AU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first off a Kaden Dugle RBI-single to score Andrew Billington
* Asbury had the bases loaded with no outs in the fourth and was held to one run
* Centre scored five runs combined in the fourth and fifth innings
* Both teams committed two errors

* AU used eight pitchers in the mid-week matchup, three going scoreless
