
KISSIMMEE, Fl.--- The No. 5 Asbury women's soccer team (9-7-5) fell to No.1 Judson University (7-5-9), 2-0 in the opening match of pool play at the National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCAA) National Tournament.
Judson scored both of their match-deciding goals in the first 1:48 of the kick off. Asbury's defense came together after, but was ultimately short on the offensive side, failing to find back net on the afternoon.
Judson's Yeyahs Macias was the offensive force for the Eagles during the match, setting in both goals for JU. He first goal came at the 53 second mark, assisted by Maria Artaloitia. The early score placed Asbury on the defensive early on. Macias, assisted by Isabella Garrelts, found the net again at 1:48, solidifying a 2-0 lead for Judson early on.
Senior media communications major Maliya Crump made her 16th start in goal, making a notable impact with five saves throughout the match. Graduate student Peighton Sowder stood out offensively by placing two shots on goal for AU.
Lauren Davis and Maggie Perry continued to command the back line of defense, both registering 90 minutes of action, Perry also taking one shot. Deidra Long, Caroline Preston, Eva De Souza, and Maci Muncie all put together shots on the attack.
Judson paced AU in shots taking 12 compared to the Eagles eight, landing sveen on goal to Asbury's two.
AU committed nine team fouls to JU's five, taking five corners to Judson's three.

Asbury will look to bounce back against No. 4 Bethel University (IN) at 1 PM tomorrow in game two of pool play in Kissimmee, FL at the NCCAA National Tournament.
