ATLANTA, Ga.--- Asbury men's basketball (2-5, 0-0 CCS) fell on the road in Atlanta, Ga., on Tuesday night in their first-ever matchup with NCAA D-III opponent Oglethorpe University (4-2, 0-0 SAAC), 91-66.
The game started off with the Eagles trailing behind, as evidenced by the halftime score of 44-32 in favor of Oglethorpe. The Stormy Petrels outscored AU in the second half 47-34, securing the win to stay undefeated at home.

Ben McNew led the Eagles offensively, scoring 17 points with four rebounds and three steals. McNew is second in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) at 17.4 points per game with a 46% FG percentage, as well as being tied for third in the CCS with 10 steals.
The Eagles were held to 23 made field goals and four threes, while Oglethorpe took 12 threes and shot 48% from the field. Oglethorpe had 13 fast break points and 13 second chance points, while AU had four fast break and eight second chance points.
Cam Jones,
Jonathan Combs, and
Scott Shepherd each contributed for Asbury, scoring 10 points apiece. Shepherd's 10 are a career-high for the sophomore biology major.
Combs notably secured seven rebounds, while Shepherd and
Cayden Lancaster each had six boards. Sophomore
Bryce Snellen secured five rebounds as well for the Eagles.
Both teams had 11 turnovers, but Oglethorpe had 18 assists to the Asbury eight dishes.
The Eagles' current record now stands at 2-5 as they prepare to face Boyce College next. The upcoming contest is scheduled to take place in Wilmore, Ky., on next Tuesday night at 8 pm.
"A lot of lessons learned today for our team. Going on the road, playing on the same day of a long trip, handling adversity. These are all things we'll see once we get into conference play. Hopefully we're figuring that part of it out early so that it will help us later and make us better."
