Asbury Set to Host 2023 NCCAA Baseball Mideast Regional
 
WILMORE, Ky. --- The 2023 National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCAA) Baseball Mideast Regional will be hosted by Asbury University May 9-11. First pitch is set for Tuesday, May 9 at 12 pm on Cecil Zweifel Field in Wilmore, Ky.

Asbury will welcome three other teams to the NCCAA Mideast Regional including Oakland City, Kentucky Christian, and Alice Lloyd. This is the Eagles' second time hosting NCCAA Regionals in 2023, hosting the men's basketball tournament earlier in the year, earning the title of Mideast Regional champions.

Oakland City (30-19) comes in at the No. 1 seed and will face No. 4 Alice Lloyd (15-35) on Tuesday at 12 pm. The second and final game of day one will be No. 2 seed Asbury (22-13-1) facing No. 3 Kentucky Christian (20-30). Wednesday is set to host three games while Thursday will decide the champion. 

The tournament is double-elimination format with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCCAA World Series held in Kansas City, Mo.

Asbury enters the tournament after an impressive regular season, winning 22 games and going 16-3-1 in their final 19 games. AU has five hitters hitting over .360 including Ethan Cartwright, Andrew Billinton, Matthew Johnson, Quinn Nobles, and Noah Brown.

Ethan Cartwright leads the way offensively for AU with a .405 average and a team-high 51 hits. Noah Brown leads the team in OBP % at .596 and leads the entire NCCAA in hit by pitch being hit 24 times this season. 

Right-handers Brody Bearden and Eli Wilder are tied for a team-high in wins on the mound for Asbury with five apiece. Bearden boasts a team-best ERA of 3.21. AU has not played any of the three regional teams yet this season.
