STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
CELINA, Oh.--- After winning 12 consecutive games since March 17, Asbury baseball (18-12) fell on Saturday to Wright State Lake Campus (WSU) in Celina, Oh., 0-4 and 3-6.

Asbury's offense that had tallied 12 double-digit hit games in a row was held to four hits in game one and six hits in game two for only 10 combined hits in the doubleheader.

Holten Handel and Brody Bearden were highlights of the day for AU, both giving impressive work on the mound. Handel went 4.2 innings out of the bullpen with five strikeouts, no hits and no runs in game one while Bearden used his game two start to go 6.1 innings with eight punchouts and no earned runs.

Noah Brown and Ethan Cartwright each had two hits on the day, the only Eagles with multi-hit days. Matthew Baker and Nathaniel Frank each had a double.

Game One | ASBURY 0, WSU-LAKE CAMPUS 4
The WSU offense scored four runs in the second on Asbury freshman starter Cayden Devine, using five hits including a home run and a double to score all four runs of the game.

Holten Handel came on with two outs in the second for Devine and didn't allow a hit or run the rest of the game. Unfortunately Asbury's offense couldn't get to WSU starter Daniel Brayton, who went all seven innings with no runs and seven strkeouts.

Both teams combined only had three hits after the second inning, WSU holding on behind the complete game from their starting pitcher to take game one, 4-0.

Game Two | ASBURY 3, WSU-LAKE CAMPUS 6
Brody Bearden gave Asbury a strong game two start, going into the seventh inning with two runs allowed (none earned) and eight strikeouts. WSU scored four runs in the final 1.2 innings to gain their lead after Bearden left the game.

AU's offense scored their first run of the day in inning one of game two thanks to a Kaden Dugle RBI that scored Noah Brown (team-high 39 runs scored). Brown came through again in the second with a two-out RBI single to score Elias Szenyeri, 2-0 Asbury.

Asbury added to their lead in the sixth with a Nathaniel Frank two-out double to right field to score Wade Everley, giving AU a 3-0 advantage.

WSU answered in the seventh, taking advantage of two errors and two walks to score six runs, grabbing their first lead of the game 6-3.

AU was not able to score any runs in the eighth and ninth, dropping game two of the doubleheader 6-3 after leading most of the game.

Asbury moves to 18-12 on the season after a strong 12-game winning streak is snapped by WSU.
