HILTON HEAD, SC. --- Asbury tennis competed in their second round of matches on day two of their spring break competition on Wednesday in Hilton Head, Sc. The men's team swept the Concordia Falcons 9-0 while the AU women fell 2-7 to the Falcons.
Men's Tennis
The Asbury men's tennis team (6-1) continued their strong 2022-2023 season with their second clean sweep in a row during their spring break. AU defeated Concordia 9-0 in their first meeting since 2016, when AU also swept the Falcons.
Asbury took all three doubles matches over Concordia to set the rest of their team up for success.
In singles, the Eagles went on to sweep the Falcons, led by No. 2
Yousef Ismail shutting out Concordia, 6-0, 6-0. Right behind Ismail was No. 3
Ignacio Ardiles with a strong match, taking the win 6-1, 6-0.
AU moves to 6-1 on the spring season and 2-0 in their spring break week.
Women's Tennis
Asbury women's tennis (1-3) competed in their second spring break match battling the Concordia Falcons, who they haven't faced since 2018, in which the results were reversed. The teams contended back and forth throughout the match before Asbury dropped the loss to the Falcons, 2-7.

Fernanda Heredia and
Kourtney Kawata contested for the Eagles, battling back and forth in their match before falling 6-8.
In singles it was
Ariadna Zegarra to take the No. 2 match with a strong win against the Falcons, 6-3, 6-2. Asbury's
Fernanda Heredia earned a strong win to take the No. 5 match, 3-6, 6-3, 10-2. Contending for AU was
Kourtney Kawata, who fell in a long battle with a tiebreaker against Concordia, 5-7, 7-5, 10-0.
The Asbury women move to 1-3 on the season and will look to pick up momentum on Thursday in their match with the Dickinson College Red Devils.
