Chick-Fil-A Featured Athletes: Sarah Yost and David Savastio

Sarah Yost- Women's Track and Field | So. | Red Lion, Pa.

What is your major?
Equine Assisted Services.

Why did you choose Asbury?
I knew there was something special about it when I visited the campus. I felt at peace being here and it was evident that spiritual life was integrated into every aspect of Asbury. This was where God wanted me to be.

Career Aspirations:
As of now, my goal is to become a PATH certified riding instructor and do something within the field of therapeutic riding. I would love to combine this with some sort of ministry or discipleship program, but we'll see where God leads.

What Do You Enjoy?:
In my free time, I enjoy reading and hanging out with my friends. I'm always down for a hike or some frisbee if it's nice out.

Favorite Bible Verse:
Matthew 6:33
"Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

What coach Randy Crist has to say about Sarah:
"Sarah stays very busy using all of her talents for God's glory. She has band rehearsal two afternoons a week which means she often has to do her track practice while everybody else is heading off to supper! She is a hard worker, a great competitor, and a joy to have on the team."

David Savastio- Baseball I Sr. I Louisville, Ky.

What is your major?
Social Studies Education.

Why did you choose Asbury?
I chose Asbury without really researching it properly. I had visited and really felt at home here, and loved the atmosphere of the campus and the baseball team, but I was still scared to make a decision. After I graduated, I finally recognized that I felt this was where God was calling me to. I have been incredibly blessed to have better friends, teammates, coaches, and teachers than I could have ever imagined. Despite me not being thoughtful in the process of choosing a school, God still surrounded me with incredible people and opportunities that have made these the best years of my life.

Career Aspirations:
I want to teach middle school history, and eventually become a principal.

What Do You Enjoy?:
I love cooking, watching movies, and spending time with friends and family.
Favorite Bible Verse:
Hebrews 4:15-16 ESV
"For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." ??

What head Baseball Coach Manny Cervantes has to say about David:
"David made his first start as a senior this past week and pitched well. His dedication and "team first" perspective over the years are a testimony on his growth as a Christian man during his time at Asbury. He is another example of a positive Christian student-athlete that will make a Kingdom impact years after his time at Asbury. He is an AU brother for life."
