ANGOLA, In.--- Asbury (7-5) resumed play after a week break on Tuesday night by recording 24 steals, led by
Trinity Shearer's nine to defeat Calvin in game one of the Trine Holiday Classic, 62-44.

Trinity Shearer flirted with a double-double scoring a game-high 19 points, recording nine steals, and grabbing five rebounds

Haleigh Releford added 16 points, five steals, and four rebounds
*
Morgan Flannery posted nine points, grabbed two rebounds, and recorded three assists
*
Camryn Preston scored 11 points, collected nine rebounds, and had four steals
* Asbury improves to 7-5 on the season
* Today's game was the first of two straight for the Eagles as part of the Trine Holiday Classic
* AU will take on the host, Trine University tomorrow before heading home for a 10 day break from action
* Asbury shot 38% from the field and 19% from three point range
* Calvin shot 31% from the field and 20% from three
* The Knights were able to out-rebound the Eagles 47-32
* AU dominated the paint out-scoring Calvin 34-18 in that department
* The Knights bench out-scored the Eagles bench 20-6.
* AU forced Calvin into 31 turnovers, resulting in 24 points off turnovers
* Calvin began the game on a 14-6 run to take an early lead with 3:00 remaining in the first
* However, AU would close the rest of the quarter on a 9-0 run to take a 15-14 lead going into the second quarter

Haleigh Releford three with 6:37 in the second gave Asbury a 22-18 lead and AU never looked back
* The Eagles used a 22-3 run in the second to take a 37-21 halftime lead
* The Knights didn't go away easy, out-scoring AU 15-12 in the third quarter
* Calvin closed the Eagle lead down to 10 points with 3:25 left in the game
* From there Asbury ended the game on an 8-0 run to capture a 62-44 win
"I'm super proud of our effort today. This is one of those wins that sets us up for success going forward. Calvin has a great team and a tremendous program. Coach Christner is a great coach and he made some good adjustments at halftime to get his team going again. However Trin, Relly and Cam really loaded us onto there backs at times tonight and just wouldn't be denied. That's what we have to have sometimes."
