WILMORE, Ky.--- A few days after a season-opening win over Centre, Asbury men's basketball (1-0) scored 74 points in an exhibition matchup at Division-I Lipsomb University, falling 113-74 on Saturday evening.
Four Eagles scored double-digit points in the impressive offensive day,
Caleb Wallis leading the way with 17 points. Wallis also dished four assists, grabbed four rebounds, and grabbed two steals.
Ben McNew followed his four 3PT night on Wednesday with 5-11 shooting to score 15 points and grabbed three rebounds.
Dakota Walden scored 14 on Lipscomb's home court, going 8-9 from the free-throw line.
Ashton Owens made four threes to lead AU out of their 11 made as a team. The Eagles went 10-12 from the line in the first half and then shot over 43% from the field in the second.
Clayton Winter,
Tyler Hall,
Cameron Jones,
Bryce Snellen, and
Scott Shepherd also scored points for AU. Winter tied
Caleb Wallis for the most rebounds on the team at four.
Dakota Walden scored four of Asbury's first seven points, tying the game at 7-7 after the first two minutes.
Lipscomb used multiple threes to stretch their lead toward the end of the first half, going ahead 39-20 over AU.
Asbury came out scoring in the second half, putting up 18 points in just over the first five minutes. The Bison of Lipscomb shot the ball very well all day, shooting 48.5% from behind the three-point line (16-33).
Despite the Eagle offense coming to play and putting up solid numbers on the home floor of a very strong Division-I opponent, Lipscomb's offense finished the day with a 113-74 exhibition win over AU.
