Chick-Fil-A Featured Athletes | Olivia Mansfield and Gideon Coleman
WILMORE, Ky.--- This week our featured Chick-Fil-A athletes are
Olivia Mansfield and
Gideon Coleman. These two athletes highlight the six pillars of excellence that Asbury Athletics is about, and are standouts not only in their respective sports, but in the Asbury community as well.
Olivia Mansfield - Women's Tennis | So. | Cicero, In.
What is your major?
My major is Art Education.
Why did you choose Asbury?
I chose to come to Asbury because of how the professors are so passionate about teaching you how to be a better disciple of Christ in whatever field you are in.
Career Aspirations:
I am studying art education and hope to master in English as a second language, and possibly teach abroad.
What Do You Enjoy?:
I enjoy reading, doing art (drawing/painting), and hiking.
Favorite Bible Verse:
Galatians 1:10-12 "For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ."
What Head Women's Tennis Coach Jarred Miller has to say about Olivia:
"Olivia is the perfect teammate. She is a good player, but also a great supporter for of her teammates both on and off the court. She is the type of player that when she is gone, her lack of presence is felt and something just doesn't seem right in the world. She has also done a great job being involved in other parts of campus outside of athletics and showing she has great leadership potential as she continues to grow as an athlete, tennis player and in her faith. I am thrilled and proud that she is an Asbury Eagle!"
Gideon Coleman - Men's Golf I Fr. I Bedford, Ky.
What is your major?
I am currently undecided.
Why did you choose Asbury?
I chose Asbury because of the God-centered community. From the moment I stepped on the campus, I felt like this was a place where I could meet godly students, faculty, and teammates. The community at Asbury is one that will help me grow as a person and a Christ-follower. I believe God's hand is on Asbury University, and He is doing great things!
Career Aspirations:
I would love to work in the golf industry in some way, hopefully as a golf club manager/pro. I am also interested in politics and government. At the moment, I am still seeking the direction God has for my life.
What Do You Enjoy?:
I enjoy playing golf and hanging out with friends and family.
Favorite Bible Verse:
Ephesians 3:20 - "Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think."
