DANVILLE, Ky. --- Asbury women's soccer (1-6-4) traveled to Danville, Ky., on Wednesday night to take on Centre College (9-1-4). Centre took the victory 0-2, in a hard-fought Division III match.
The AU defense held the Colonels for long periods of play throughout the night, but the Eagle offense was not able to get through during the match.
The Eagles were able to get off two shots on the Colonels on the night with one resulting in a shot on goal (SOG). Centre attempted 19 shots with eight landing as SOG.

Violette Moore collected six saves, while the Colonels had one. Maggie Higdon and
Mary Hostetter got the shot attempts for the Eagles tonight with Higdon landing a SOG.
The Colonels took an early lead in the match, scoring in the very first minute to go ahead 1-0. After this early goal from the nine-win Centre squad, Asbury's defense locked down to not allow another goal until the 69th minute of the second half.
Centre was able to get off four shots in the next 15 minutes of play with one resulting in a SOG, that was saved by
Violette Moore.
In the 33rd minute Mary Hostteter attempted the Eagles' first shot of the night. The shot was saved by the Colonels to keep the game at 0-1.
Centre followed with three shots of their own in the next two minutes with
Violette Moore collecting two more saves during that span. The game went to half 0-1 in favor of Centre.
Violette Moore collected her fourth save in the 56th minute with a nice stop to keep the score still at 0-1. Moore has been a very bright spot for the Eagles' defense in goal.
Maggie Higdon got the second shot of the night off for the Eagles in the 59th minute, but missed just high to keep the score 0-1 in favor of the Colonels.
After another great save in the 69th minute by
Violette Moore, Centre was able to connect in the 73rd with their second goal of the night to take the score to 0-2.
Moore collected her final save in the 84th minute. The game ended with no more shots attempted and the Colonels took the win 0-2.
Asbury will next be in action Saturday morning in Demorest, Ga., to take on Piedmont University at 11 AM.
