Swim Wraps Up Final Meet Before Conference with Four First-Place Finishes Against Centre

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
WILMORE, Ky.--- Asbury University men's and women's swimming competed in its final meet before they head to the Liberal Arts Conference Championship. Today's dual meet was hosted by the Centre Colonels in Danville, Ky. Despite an overall tough meet for AU, the Eagles saw great success with four first-place finishes and numerous top-three results.

The men's and women's teams were overtaken by Centre with a combined score of 121-309.
The men's team fell to the Colonels, 59-156, and the women dropped 62-153.

In spite of the hard-fought meet, today's results were highlighted by numerous first place victories for the Eagles.

Senior captain Tommy Johnson earned the team's first victory of the day, taking first in the Men's 100 Butterfly (53.68).

Next was junior Ian Wang in first place in the Men's 100 Breaststroke (1:01.62).

Johnson and Wang were also key-members in two successful relays for AU:
The first men's race of the day was the 400 Medley Relay in which AU grabbed second with a strong team of junior Ian Wang, senior Haden Hebenstreit, and senior captains Tommy Johnson and Elijah O'Connor (3:40.35).
The men's team also found success in the final race of the day, earning second place in the Men's 400 Freestyle Relay. This was achieved with a similar team of freshman Braden Vincent, junior Ian Wang, and senior captains Tommy Johnson and Elijah O'Connor (3:21.82).


Emme Johnson, a freshman on the team, took the lead in the Women's 100 Backstroke (1:04.05).

In the final women's race of the day, the Eagles took the victory in the Women's 400 Freestyle Relay, comprised of a strong mix of swimmers; juniors Amber Schulte and Emily Poll, and freshmen Claire Hentrup and Sarah Finlayson (3:49.85).
The women's team also found success in the Women's A 400 Medley Relay, comprised of freshman Emme Johnson, junior captain Maria Poll, junior Amber Schulte, and senior Lillie Lewis, who snatched second place (4:12.35).
