Asbury men's basketball (13-2) will travel to the familiar NCCAA opponent Alice Lloyd College (8-8) on Tuesday night for a rematch of the game earlier this season on November 29th. Alice Lloyd took the game in November on Asbury's home court, 83-73, handing Asbury their first loss of the season after AU started with a school-record seven straight wins. The two programs have met 38 times, going back and forth in wins for the past eight games. Asbury leads the rivalry overall with 22 wins.
Last season it was Asbury taking down undefeated Alice Lloyd on their home court, who were previously 19-0 before Asbury gave them their first loss on January 27th, 116-114 in overtime. These two strong NCCAA Mideast Region teams typically provide a great basketball game and will tip-off Tuesday night at 7 pm.
Asbury is fresh off a holiday tournament championship where their offense put up 90 and 79 points in two games, and their defense held Miami-Hamilton to only 53 points in the championship game.
Nick Fort was named MVP of the tournament as he averaged 32.5 points and 13 rebounds in the two games. Fort now has 11 double-doubles for Asbury in their first 15 games.
AU now sits at 13-2 after being ranked #5 in the most recent NCCAA rankings, having won their last four contests. Sophomore forward
Clayton Winter has come on strong lately recording two double-doubles in three games, with 14 points in each of his last two games.
Alice Lloyd is 2-3 in their last five contests, losing their last game on Saturday to Brescia. The Eagles from Alice Lloyd are second overall in the River States Conference in rebounding, averaging 41.6 per game. ALC has four players averaging in the double-digits, with junior guard Ben Soumahoro leading the way at 14 points per game.
