SPRINGFIELD, Oh. --- After a hard fought five set victory on Friday night, Asbury faced two strong opponents on Saturday at the Wittenberg Classic. AU battled in their first match of the day with top 25 ranked Wittenberg University but ultimately fell short. The third and final game of the weekend for the Eagles went to Mount St. Joseph.
Game One (vs. Wittenberg)
AU put pressure on the highly ranked Wittenberg Tigers, early in the first set taking a 16-13 lead at one point. Wittenberg rallied back to take the first set, 25-18.
The second set of the day was close as well, reaching a breaking point halfway through the set with Asbury trailing 12-15. Wittenberg pulled away late in the set with strong play to take the 25-14 win.
The third and final set of the match was the closest of the day, as Asbury would not go away in the match leading most of the set. AU took a 21-17 lead before the number 16 ranked Tigers pushed back to take the set and match win.
Wittenberg swept all three of their matches on the weekend, Asbury scored the most points against them out of all their three opponents. Sophomore Emma Grace Gray led Asbury again in the match, getting 15 kills and hitting a .345 clip to lead all scorers between both teams.
Game Two (vs. Mount St. Joseph)
The third game of the weekend for Asbury was against Mount St. Joseph, another talented division III opponent. The 6-3 Mount St. Joseph Lions went on a strong run in the first set to take the first set over Asbury.
A late Asbury 6-1 run cut their deficit in the second set down to 18-22 after being down earlier in the set 12-21. Mount St. Joseph managed to hold on to take the 2-0 lead in the match, and 25-20 set win. Mount St. Joseph continued their efficient play in the third set to close out Asbury and take the win in the match.

* Emma Grace Gray led the team with 16 kills on the day, hitting a .345 clip in the first game
* Emma Ingalls had 6 kills in the second match of the day
* Lucy Kate Gray dished out 33 assists on the day

Asbury will travel to Rio Grande, Ohio on Tuesday night to take on Rio Grande University at 6 PM.
