SPRINGFIELD, Oh. --- Asbury faced off with Geneva College Friday night at the Wittenberg Classic in Springfield, Oh. After falling behind 0-2 in the match, AU came all the way back to complete the reverse sweep and defeat Geneva in 5 sets, 3-2. 

The first two sets of the match went to Geneva, 22-25 and 17-25. The third set is where the momentum began to swing as Asbury scratched out a close 25-23 victory to keep the match alive. AU took this victory after being down 19-21, and then went on a run they didn't look back from. 

The fourth set was controlled by AU after their match changing win in the second set, as they evened the match at 2-2 with a 25-19 victory. The deciding set of the match was led by Asbury all but one point, ending in a 15-11 victory from Asbury to win their third match of the season.

In a game where each point and kill was hard earned, sophomore Emma Grace Gray lead all scorers notching 17 kills on the match. Freshman Riley McChord was flying every in the match on defense, picking up 30 digs. Freshman setter Luce Kate Gray dished out 42 assists for the Eagles in a marathon five set reverse sweep by AU.

"We started off slow in the first two sets, but things started clicking as we went into set three. The passing was on point and we started finishing like winners. The championship mentality was present and I couldn't be more proud of how we pulled out the win!"

AU will play two matches tomorrow at the Wittenberg Classic, Wittenberg at 11 am and Mount St. Joseph at 2 pm.
