
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. --- The Asbury men's tennis team began their 2022-2023 season this weekend with Hidden Dual tournament at Top Seed Tennis Club hosted by Transylvania University. The Eagles competed against Transylvania, Wabash College, and Wittenberg University on the weekend and took wins in many of their matches to begin the season.
AU is coming off a 2021-2022 season that saw them win their first 8 matches of the season, and 12 matches total including a birth in the NCCAA National Tournament. The Eagles return multiple key contributors from last year's team but they have also added promising new members to the squad. These factors have the Asbury men's tennis team poised for a successful year.
On day one of the tournament AU won 9 out of their 15 singles matches, taking 5 out of 6 matches in their opening round against Transylvania. AU took all three of their doubles matches vs. Wittenberg to finish day one.
On day two, Asbury won 4 of the 6 singles matches against Wittenberg college. AU once swept all six of their doubles matches in the day, this time against Transylvania and Wabash College. In total AU went 9-0 in doubles matches on the weekend.
