
MOBILE, Al. --- The Asbury men's tennis team looked to bounce back today as they met up with the 4 seed in the NCCAA National Tournament, Oakland City. Despite AU taking an early 1-0 lead after doubles, Oakland City charged back in singles to take the match over Asbury, 2-4.Â
The AU men's doubles team of Gregorio Ingles and Alejandro Caceres had to win 7 games to take a hard fought victory over Oakland City, 7-5. The two saved 4 match points, coming down from 4x5 and 0x40. Asbury's combo of Tanner Sparks and Luiz Hartkopf played very well together in doubles, taking a 6-2 win.Â
Luiz Hartkopt also played well in singles taking the win over Oakland City, 6-0 and 6-3. Tanner Sparks had a very close match with Oakland City, winning a set 6-4 but dropping the deciding set 5-7. Rodrigo Cavero cruised through his second singles set (6-0) to even the score at 1-1 but the fell in the deciding set 5-7. Alejandro Caceres won a set 4-6 but his deciding set was not played due to Oakland City securing the victory.
