Paris and Lush Toss Complete Games, Eagles Take First Two Games of Series

MILLINGTON, Tn. --- The Asbury baseball team (15-9) and MUW (7-14) met on Friday in Millington, TN for a doubleheader matchup. The Eagles held the MUW offense to only 5 runs on the day sweeping the doubleheader, taking game one 4-3 and game two 12-2.

Game 1
Walker Paris took the mound in game one and provided a 9 inning complete game (his second of the year) only allowing 3 runs. Paris put together a masterpiece outing, striking out 10 and walking on 1 batter. The Eagle defense backed Paris up, only making one error in the game.

Both teams were stuck on 0 until AU punched first in the 4th on a sacrifice fly from Matthew Baker to score Kaiden Zacharias (tripled earlier in the inning). MUW would quickly respond in the bottom of the 5th on a solo home run, tying the game at 1-1.

In the 7th it was the bat of Kaiden Zacharias driving a deep fly over the right-center wall to give AU the 2-1 lead. AU notched two more key runs in the 8th, led by a Tyler Hewlett single and Walker Paris double making the score 4-1. MUW scored two more runs but the 4 would be enough for AU as they picked up their 14th win of the season.

Game 2
The senior left-handed pitcher for AU, Alec Lush followed the tone of his teammate Paris and provided another complete game for the Eagles. Lush pitched 7 innings, allowing only 2 runs on 3 hits, and struck out 8 (4th win of the season).

The AU offense jumped out early, scoring 8 runs in the first three innings to get a lead over MUW. Asbury scored 1 in the first, 3 in the second and 4 in the third for a combined 6 hits (all singles).

AU jumped back on the scoring train in the 7th adding 4 more runs on an RBI single from Jackson Cole, RBI double from Walker Paris, and an RBI single from Kaiden Zacharias. A strong day from Asbury moves them to 15-9 on the 2022 season with the two wins over MUW.
