Softball Splits Doubleheader with Oakland City on Saturday

WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University softball team split its Saturday doubleheader with Oakland City at home.

The Eagles won game won 10-2 in six innings but fell 10-6 in game two.

Asbury drops .333 on the season and moves to 3-6 overall.

Game one

*AU got on the scoreboard first by Harley Wagoner, who brought in Olivia Palasek to score. 

*The Mighty Oaks returned the favor in the top of the second with one run and three hits.

*AU answered right back with four runs and four hits; Oakland City collected one more run in the top of the fourth. However, AU wouldn't let them make a comeback, scoring five more runs to secure the win.

*Asbury collected 13 hits and 8 RBI as a team in the victory.

*Leading the way offensively was Abby Fletcher, who finished with a double, one run, three hits, and four RBIs.

*Harley Wagonerand Taylor Sanders also tallied three hits each. Enlow and Fletcher each hit a double apiece additionally.

McKenzie Meyer compiled another win in the circle with six innings pitched as she three out four batters and allowed only two earned runs.


Game two

*AU and Oakland City battled it out in game two going back and forth. However, Oakland City would score five more times to secure the win.

*Asbury only finished with seven hits in the loss and left five baserunners stranded throughout the game.

*OCU would score five runs in the third inning and three more in the fifth to tie the game. OCU would score two more runs in the sixth to take the lead and the victory. 

*Jenni Beasley and Taylor Enlow tacked on two hits each to lead the AU offense in the loss.

*Also finishing with one hit each were Olivia PalasekKaitlyn Wilson, and Abby Fletcher
